A visit from the Fruehauf’s

Today Mark and I met the Fruehauf family. Thank you Susie, Bud, Martha, Liz, Albert and families. They gifted us with the original guest book and as you can see, it started quite a few years ago. Susie heard I had Cecilia today and gifted her (which I am keeping at Nana’s house lol) with a book she has written and had published.

Here are some of the reviews we have received so far.

We’ve stayed at many B&Bs, and this was the loveliest by far. The rooms are actually suites with sitting rooms, and the decor is tasteful and so attractive. Lounging around the pool with its comfortable, fun furniture was a perfect way to spend an afternoon. And the breakfast was more like feast with a selection of homemade dishes, fruits, and beverages. The hosts make you feel right at home while giving you plenty of privacy. It was a treat from start to finish!

We had a pleasure of staying at Maple Cove B&B just few days ago at Hemingway Suite. We did not want to go home!!! Jan was most wonderful, helpful and I still miss her coffee and conversation. Mark was so nice to give us directions better then any GPS would. This B&B is dreamy, clean with a space to have a minuteto yourself and enjoy time with others on patio or game of pool. Please trust me you will Love it!!!!!!!

Thank you Jan and Mark for the truly wonderful weekend we had a few weeks ago to celebrate our 31st Anniversary at your beautiful and charming Bed & Breakfast. Even though it is only 5 miles from our home we will definitely be back when we need to get away from our busy hectic lives. Your place is beautiful and your hospitality is over gracious and your breakfasts are delicious!

We loved hearing about the history of your home and we are very glad that you unearthed the beautiful pool so many years ago.

We look forward to coming back again soon and will definitely spread the word that your place is a top notch B&B!

Beautiful home. Luxurious accommodations. Gracious host. Amazing food and reasonable price. You have to experience this. I’m totally spoiled after my visit. So want to go again. Five star*****

So far….

Here we are in July and since we have opened, we have met so many wonderful new friends. We have had over 45 guests, hosted a baby shower, a birthday celebration, had a beautiful bride and her party prepare for her big day, had anniversary celebrations and “just needed a get away” as well as repeat guests. I can’t express how excited and blessed we are to have exceed our expectations on how busy we would be since opening.

I want to thank my new friends from Michigan Lake2Lake B&B as they have been most welcoming. I know if I have something come up, I will get immediate help.

I look forward to meeting more new friends and I thank all those who have stayed with us.

I am happy to say that all my recipes I have tried for breakfast have been successful. I have my go to Egg Cups that will usually be my first choice for day one of your stay, unless you have been here before, then I have my second go to recipe.

My goal is to start my favorites in a recipe book that I can share with you here. Help keep me on track. Visit us on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/maplecovebandb/

Looking forward to the chance to meet you!!

Summer time and the living is easy

The Great Outdoors

Having such talented family members has been a blessing. My son in law, Chris, who is a builder and a visionary I might add, is able to take a folder of pictures, voiced ideas and a vintage bird cage and marry them to make a pergola for our pool area. He was also the hammer, saw and bucket full of ideas behind the beautiful pantry with the same parameters as the pergola.

Between raised beds for all my vegetables and herbs I grow, the pergola and planning new gardens, I am blissfully happy with the work and trying  not to add too many new jobs to my ever increasing list of “things I want to improve on”.  Much to Mark’s  relief.

Mark and I have been blessed by how busy we have been. Almost every weekend since opening, we have had the opportunity to meet new guests. I have tried new recipes, presentation of foods and have had lovely compliments, my only issue is I forget to capture it on film to post.

Here is a picture of the pergola. I call this the beginning, and when the whole project is completed, I will post the finished project. Let’s stay in touch!

Looking for something quick and easy to make, email me for the recipe.  Jan

Couple turns historic farmhouse into bed and breakfast

Addison Township residents Mark and Jan Smith have transformed their spacious, two-story 19th-century farmhouse, just west of Lakeville, into the Maple Cove Bed and Breakfast. It's set to open on Friday, Feb. 5. Mark called restoring it "a labor of love."

January 13, 2016 – By CJ Carnacchio – Places for tourists and weary travelers to lay their heads for a night or two are few and far between in the Oxford area.

But thanks to Mark and Jan Smith, a new bed and breakfast is poised to open in Addison Township on Friday, Feb. 5.

“We have always wanted to be innkeepers,” Jan said. “I knew what I wanted to do when we bought this house. It’s set up so beautifully to share. It’s historic. It’s big. We love people. We love cooking.”
